I'm a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with more than 25 years of experience providing mental health services in different settings including military, inpatient psychiatric hospital, community mental health, outpatient settings. I have experience providing therapy and working with severe mentally ill clients, veterans, clients involved with the legal system. I earned my BS in Psychology from the University of Hawaii-West Oahu and my MSW from the University of Hawaii-Manoa.
My style is active, nonjudgemental, empathetic with a sense of humor. I use an eclectic-collaborative approach using motivational interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Harm reduction. I have experience treating Mood disorders, PTSD, Anxiety, Grief and loss, Relationship problems, Parenting, and Life transitions. I am bilingual/bicultural clinician (Spanish/English) with expert understanding of racial/immigration/assimilation trauma/issues.
